Legislative update

This past month I sponsored the following resolutions in my capacity as chairman of the Facilities, Real Property & Capital Improvements Committee:

  • Purchase and renovate the Hickory Hill clinic at 6590 Kirby Center Cove
  • Renovate county facilities at 150 Washington
  • Renovate Sherry Hopper Goodman Park
  • Initiate the design for transitional housing at 1348 Mississippi Blvd
  • Renovate two facilities used by the Roads, Bridges & Engineering dept

All of these were budgeted expenses, and each received unanimous support.

Special thanks

This month I lost my longtime legislative specialist with the transfer of Rebecca Good, who moves to another position in county government. Ms. Good had been assigned to help me since 2018. I will miss her but wish her the best in the new role.

My thanks to the entire commission staff for pitching in to help me through the transition, and especially to LaCretia Maclin who takes on the duties for District 3.
